BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – A sensational case of attempting to kidnap a child in a shopping mall in West Virginia can only have been a man who is kind to a little girl.
The Barboursville police initially said woman pulled a gun on the man and forced him to release his 5-year-old daughter. Mohamed Fathy Hussein Zayan was arrested near the Huntington Mall Food Court on a kidnapping trial.
But the 54-year-old engineer from Alexandria, Egypt, was released from prison on Tuesday night and Police Sgt. Anthony Jividen says a prosecutor should decide whether to charge the woman instead.
The Sergeant says the mother now says she might have interpreted man's intentions. He doesn't speak English, and the police say he might just have patted the girl upside down.
