A Clayton County man drowned Monday after he jumped into a lake to save his father's life, the authorities said.
Jemiah Israel, 34, from Jonesboro, died in West Point Lake after he jumped off his boat to try to save his 64-year-old father, who accidentally fell into the water, according to Troup County Sheriff & # 39; s Office.
The incident happened at 11.00. 12.30 under the Cameron Mill bridge, the Sheriff's office said in a statement.
Channel 2 Action News reported that his father woke up on the boat and thought he was at home and went into the lake.
Other boaters who experienced the incident tried to help and could successfully pull the danger from the water, said the sheriff's office. He was taken to WellStar West Georgia Hospital and has since been released, officials said.
