Bloober Teams upcoming Xbox and PC exclusive That Medium is slated for release later this month, and the developer has released a brand new trailer showing the game’s use of NVIDIA RTX technology. At launch, the game uses the technology on the PC and Microsoft DirectX Raytracing on the console. While the majority of Xbox Series X | S games will also be released on Xbox One, Medium will only be available on Microsoft’s next two generation systems. The game’s new trailer certainly gives viewers an idea of why this is the case, with a great use of raytracing. Fans of the survival horror genre will definitely want to keep an eye on this game when it is released!
The new trailer can be found integrated below.
The reflections seen in the trailer above really show what the game will bring to the table! From the way light springs up from the walls and floors, to the reflections across glass boxes and picture frames, there is an incredible sense of atmosphere throughout the short trailer. While the leap in technology from the previous console generation to the new one is not as important as previous generation shifts, raytracing should make a big difference in the way developers can bring a world to life in their games.
Of course, survival-horror games have always excelled at building tension through the use of atmosphere. Bloober Team’s previous games have just done so with less impressive graphics, so it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of difference more powerful hardware will make. Clearly, the developer is looking for ways to truly use next-generation technology.
For those unfamiliar with the Bloober Team, the developer has previously worked on games such as Layer of fear, Observerand Blair Witch. The Polish-based studio clearly has an ability to create scary games, and Medium seems to be no exception. Whether the game will be able to deliver an experience that lives up to the studio’s legacy, however, remains to be seen!
Medium is set to release exclusively on Xbox Series X | S and PC on January 28th. You can check out our entire previous coverage of the game right here.
