"In a situation like this where in my opinion the president is in the right place – trying to get the right result … with regard to border security – of course not," McConnell told reporters when asked if he would be willing to override a veto on the law to fully restore the government.

McConnell has said that the Senate will not take over state funding legislation unless it is an agreement reached by the White House and democratic democratic leadership.
"There is no way around it. Showing voices in the Senate does not solve the problem," McConnell told Tuesday's reporters.
The GOP leader has twice blocked a House-passed package that will fully reopen the federal government, a quarter of which have been closed since December 22 in a stalemate over Trump's demand for border funding. 
One of the bills adopted by Parliament would finance the Department of Homeland Security until February 8, while the other would fund the rest of the affected departments and agencies through September 30 at the end of financial year.
