Master P holder DMX in his prayers, and he can not help but think that X’s drug overdose could have been prevented – and his idea is that rappers should do a better job of taking care of their own.
We got Master P in Los Angeles on Thursday, and our photographer asked him about DMX’s legacy … since he’s still on life support at a New York hospital.
Master P says he hates how the hip-hop industry waits until something bad happens to one of their peers before offering love and support. He believes the industry needs to form a kind of union to help artists who are going through hard times, especially when drugs are involved.
TMZ broke the story … DMX suffered an overdose of drugs Friday night his brain left oxygen-free for almost 30 minutes and now he is in a coma and we are told that the prognosis does not look good.
While Master P wants hip hop to unite much like the NBA Players Association, he says the best the industry could do to prevent the next tragedy is educate the next generation.
Interesting conversation and concept … and Master P tells us why the possibilities for artists after hip hop right now are pretty bleak. That’s something he wants to change.
