Imagine if your parents were famous superheroes… and then the time came for you to follow the family business. That is the precondition for Jupiter’s inheritance, a new Netflix series that just dropped an action-packed first trailer today.
Designed by Steven S. DeKnight (Smallville, Daredevil) and based on the cartoon of Mark Millar and Frank Quitely (nice nod on the side of the van), Jupiter’s inheritance tells the story of “the world’s first generation of superheroes” as they set out to bring their children into world-saving ranks. But it is difficult enough to live up to parents’ expectations anyone children – far less the children of famous superheroes.
Plus, as this first trailer makes clear, there’s extra pressure from around the world that sees them try to step into some pretty giant shoes – and the fact that these kids are all a bit anger at their parents for being MIA because of it all while growing up.
Overall, the tone here looks pretty serious despite the colorful clothes, explosive special effects and star Josh Duhamel’s “aging Fabio” the latter hairstyle. “We also already have a current series digging into the whole”omg my dad is a superhero“Situation, but this looks a little more expansive than Superman & Lois until now.)
Jupiter’s inheritance– who also plays Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, Matt Lanter and Ian Quinlan – hits Netflix on May 7.
