ARLINGTON, Texas – Cody Bellinger was moved to designated hitter just over an hour before Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday due to lumbar stiffness.
AJ Pollock replaced Bellinger in the center against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke to local reporters and said Bellinger received treatment at the ballpark and tried to move, but his back did not cooperate.
Roberts called Bellinger’s return edition “a daily thing”
Bellinger is one of the best defensive center fielders in the game, a big advantage considering the expansive field at Globe Life Field. Pollock came up as a midfielder, but does not cover much reason.
Roberts told reporters he was considering moving Mookie Betts from right to center, but decided otherwise because it would put more players out of position.
