LG teases an “Explorer Project” phone with a slide-out screen

LG is entering a very experimental phase of being a phone manufacturer, where it is trying to seek out new customers with all sorts of unique designs. The LG Wing, with its inverted screen and second screen, is the first in a series of Explorer Project handsets to try something different. And at the end of LG’s main tone showing the wing, it also targeted the other Explorer Project device, a smartphone with an extendable, seemingly flexible display that could embarrass its rivals.

The teaser is completely depicted in the GIF above and shows a device where the right side is pulled out to greatly increase the size of the screen. And we expect it to behave in the same way as TCL̵

7;s concept unit, which is similar to each other and pulls out to release more screen properties located inside the phone’s body. Given LG’s experience in making rollable OLED screens for its ultra-fancy range of TVs, it’s certainly possible that the technology is coming to smartphones.
