Kroger said Monday that it will close its Columbus bakery. The closure will affect 411 workers.
On Monday, Kroger said it would close its Columbus bakery immediately and cost 411 jobs.
"After evaluating the equipment and layout of the plant, it became clear that the outdated layout and age of the equipment was no longer sustainable for us to remain competitive," the company said in a statement. "The factory production ceases immediately, and the process of shutdown of operations is expected to take 60-90 days."
The bakery is located on Cleveland Avenue near Downtown.
The merchant said there are no plans to close other of his facilities.
