It was not until last month that Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura said there were currently “no specific plans” to bring more games in this particular series to the Nintendo Switch after the release of Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory.
At the time, however, he mentioned how he still found the Switch an appealing device and expressed how that was possible another games by him to jump to Nintendo’s hybrid platform.
Following a recent interview with Nintendo Dream, it is speculated that Nomura may be teasing something else for the Switch. Here is exactly what he said at the end of the interview after an exchange with Masanobu Suzui from Indieszero (translation courtesy of Oni_Dino):
Suzui: It was a rare opportunity for you to appear in a Nintendo Dream article with a Kingdom Hearts title that you were involved in.
Nomura: I̵7;m sure I’ll be back in the not too distant future.
Nomura said earlier that Square Enix was considering transferring the Kingdom Hearts mainline to Switch, but found it to be “technologically difficult”. So if anything else is on the way, it is not necessarily tied to this series.
