Over the last year, a number of shortcomings have occurred due to the pandemic. Items ranging from toilet paper to aluminum cans have all seen short (or not so short) periods when demand exceeded supply.
As Fox News previously reported, ketchup is the latest product to see delivery issues.
Prices for ketchup packages have risen 13% since January 2020, according to data from Plate IQ, a restaurant industry technology platform, as reported by The Wall Street Journal. A shortage of America’s favorite spice is the latest to hit the food service industry amid growing demand for pickup amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Since the pandemic started, shared items (like ketchup bottles) have largely been removed from restaurants. Instead, disposable items have taken their place, meaning demand for ketchup packages has seen a significant increase.
As is often the case, it seems that some people are trying to take advantage of the situation. While they may usually seem worthless (since many restaurants simply just give them away), lists of ketchup packages are shown on eBay.

The listings vary in quantity, but many 50 ketchup packages were recently sold for $ 9.99. Another list of 100 packages sold for $ 11.99.

Ketchup packages are not the only spice sold on the site.

Fox News previously reported that Taco Bell hot sauce packets are enjoying unprecedented demand on eBay, with some lists asking for significant amounts. Many of the listings sell large batches of the sauce packs (often containing between 50 and 100 packs), but some only offer single packs at steep prices.
