KALAMAZOO, MI – Kalamazoo County offers free HIV and hepatitis trials for patients of Dr. Roger D. Beyer, accused of educating nurses to reuse anorectal tools.
The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department is offering tests from 8 am to 3:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Thursdays, testing is offered from 11:00. 10.00 to 5.30.
"We are available to society as a resource," said Penny Borne, Kalamazoo County Personal Health Department.
Beyers patients are encouraged to seek medical attention for the treatment of HIV and hepatitis, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
Several nurses reported that Beyer trained them to reuse anorectal manometers on patients. The US Food and Drug Association only allows one-time use.
Disease associated with these methods has not yet been reported, according to a press release from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
