Then croons Justin Bieber, 26, in “Lonely,” his new music video collaboration with producer Benny Blanco, 32, came out Friday at midnight. The clip has already garnered over 2.3 million views on YouTube as of this morning.
The melancholy track with Bieber’s singing over minimal piano accompaniment plays 14-year-old Jacob Tremblay as a young Bieber struggling with simultaneous success and isolation.
The clip starts with a shot of Tremblay alone and stares at his reflection in a giant locker room before being called to and slowly taking to the stage. “I̵
“And everyone saw me sick, and it felt like no one gave as – – t, they criticized the things I did, like an idiot,” reads a particularly unguarded verse before they started in the pre-choir. “What if you had it all but no one to call? Maybe you would know me. Because I’ve heard everything but no one listens and it’s just f – king lonely. ”

On Twitter, Bieber called Tremblay “so talented” and said it was an emotional experience “to see him play me from the outside and look inside.” Still, the Canadian superstar admits it’s hard to watch the video again. “To be honest, the song is hard for me to listen to given how difficult it was to get through some of these chapters. I think it’s strong to express vulnerability, and that’s why I think this song is so strong, ”Bieber tweeted.
The singer has been busy this month dropping a collaboration with Crocs and jumping into bed with wife Hailey Baldwin for the cover of Vogue Italia.
