Jim Carrey: comedian, actor, artist and – in the eyes of Benito Mussolini's grandson – "bastard".
Carrey, the rubber-animated cartoon famous for low-brow ticket such as "Dumb and Dumber" and "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" as well as critically acclaimed films like "Man on the Moon" found themselves on the receiver of a Twitter tirade from Alessandra Mussolini.
Carrey released his drawing of the Italian dictator and his mistress Clara Petacci was hung upside down in a Milanese square after they were executed in 1945.
"If you wonder what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta, "wrote Carrey in a tweet written Saturday.
Mussolini, member of the European Parliament and former Playboy tire model, fired back on Sunday.
You are a bastard, you tweeted.
Several Carrey supporters quickly defended the performer who has recently emerged as a tough critic of President Donald Trump . When telling the terrible Mussolini that his grandfather "struggled to free Europe from people like your grandfather," she replied, "Do you want applause?
However, Mussolini continued to attack Carrey on Twitter by suggesting he draws inspiration from dark sides of American history by depicting mushroom clouds, African Americans are bound to whipping posts, Rosa Parks and "whites only" signs of buses.
Carrey did not take the bait (or return a tweet from NBC News seeking comment). Tomorrow, 93,000 people wanted Carry's image.
Meanwhile, dozens of pro-Carrey people had written on Mussolini's wire photographs of American soldiers fighting for the Fascist forces in Italy, including one who said his grandfather was witnessing that the dictator's body was tense up and said the pictures in his family possess "look much like Jim's illustration here."
Mussolini, 56, is a far right politician who has long been the answer was his grandfather, a brutal dictator known as "Il Duce" (the leader) who turned Italy into a police state and catastrophically allied his country with Nazi Germany during World War II.
Finally with the Allied Forces after him, Mussolini and his mistress were captured by Italian partisans while trying to escape to Switzerland. They were executed by the firing chamber, and their bodies were then loaded to Milan, where they were hung on the head of a petrol station.
Jeers crowds then pelted the bodies with stones.
Mussolini also did not respond to a message from NBC News seeking comment. However, on her Twitter page, she often counts with Trump Tweets, one recently as Sunday.
