TEHRAN, Iran – Burning American and Israeli flags, Iranians gathered after Friday prayers against the US decision to designate the country's powerful revolutionary guards as a foreign terrorist organization.
Thousands of worshipers came out of mosques chanting traditional anti-usa slogans by such collections of "Death to America" and "Death to Israel." Iranian state media said similar demonstrations took place in other Iranian cities and cities.
This week the US government designated the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist group to increase the pressure on Iran, isolate the additional and rapid authorities to divert some of the economic resources Tehran uses to fund militant activity in the Middle East and beyond.
Iran responded by appointing all US forces as a terrorist and labeling the United States as a "supporter of terrorism."
Also on Friday, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif sent a letter to UN Security Council and Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who stressed that Iran would hold the United States responsible for future provocations against Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC.
According to the state IRNA news agency, Zarif said the US and "Several puppet governments will be responsible for the dangerous consequences of adventurism."
"The provocative movement will increase tensions at an uncontrollable level and increase threats in the region," he said, adding that the revolutionary watch is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and extremism.
The Commander of the Iranian Earth Forces, Brig. Gen. Kioma's Heidari said the US's decision was self-destructive as the Americans "put their own forces, especially the US Central Command, in danger all over the world."
