Apple releases iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 Wednesday, September 16, bringing lots of new features and performance improvements to its iPhone ($ 699 at Apple) and iPad ($ 300 in the rear market) line (here’s how Prepare your iPhone or iPad today). The announcement was made at Apple’s Sept. 15 “Time Flies” event, where the company also announced two new Apple Watch modelsand one updated iPad Air.

Apple has continuously updated its iOS software since the release of the first iPhone in 2007 and the first iPad in 2010. In recent years, the company added features such as a dark condition, improved multitasking on iPad puts apps side by side and new confidentiality features such as “Sign in with Apple,” which is designed to prevent apps from collecting information from you without your knowledge.

In 2019, Apple shared iOS and iPadOS, effectively promising that it would focus resources on new features for the iPad that may not come to the iPhone. The intention was to build an iPad experience that could be more competitive with a full computing experience. A new feature that the company has released for the iPad is the support of using one external mouse or trackpad, which makes it easier for people to use the device with a keyboard.

This year, iOS 14 introduces new tricks for iPhone as small apps, known as widgets, for the home screen. With iPadOS 14, Apple adds features like better search features. And both devices will start letting people choose standard apps for email and web browser as well a new messaging program it makes organizing conversations much easier.

Below you will find instructions for installing the update when it goes live on September 16th.
