However, this is far from everything we have during IGN’s Summer of Gaming, but we’ll bring you the entire E3 2021, showcases from our partners and much, much more over the summer. This was just the beginning:
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – Exclusive details revealed
Tina Tina’s Wonderlands, the game-in-a-game Borderlands spin-off, is coming next year – and we learned a lot more about the game, its characters, its prey and more. When we spoke to IGN in a trailer split (below), creative director Matt Cox talked us through some important parts of the teaser and gave us a much better idea of what̵
Doki Doki Literature Club Plus – Exclusive disclosure
This expanded version of the visual novel cult classic will be released for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation on June 30 with both digital and physical editions. It’s neither DLC nor expansion, but is instead an expanded version of the same deeply disturbing visual novel that begins as a pleasant dating sim and quickly takes a pack of a trip.
World War Z: Aftermath – Exclusive Reveal
World War Z: Aftermath is an improved upgrade of Saber Interactive’s co-op zombie horde survival game. The new version includes everything from World War Z: Game of the Year Edition, but adds new characters, a new melee system, new undead creatures, and a new first-person mode. In addition, Aftermath has been improved to take advantage of next-generation consoles and will run in 4K / 60FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X.
AudioClash: Battle of the Bands – Exclusive Reveal and Music Video
We unveiled AudioClash: Battle of the Bands, an automated combat strategy game where you create musical groups from card decks. Co-created by internet sensations The Living Tombstone, AudioClash is coming to Steam Early Access in the 3rd quarter of 2021. We also unveiled a brand new music video for a Living Tombstone track, ‘Getting Bigger’.
Core Keeper – Exclusive disclosure
Core Keeper is a 2D base building and sandbox mining game coming to PC later this year. The gameplay loop is centered on building a base in an ancient cave using materials obtained by mining. By gathering materials and creating new things, you will eventually be able to turn on Core, a mysterious relic.
Bramble: The Mountain King – Exclusive Reveal
Bramble: The Mountain King is an intense, side-scrolling horror platformer with two siblings sneaking out of their homes one night and into a nearby forest. Things go wrong when they stumble into a new world called Bramble filled with strange creatures, some friendly and others not. Developer Dimfrost says that Bramble will also be filled with “David vs Goliath” -style bosses and lush environments inspired by Nordic nature and adventure.
Survival Machine – Exclusive detection
Survival Machine is a unique co-op survival game that asks you to fight your way through a zombie apocalypse while building a city that literally runs its way around the world. It aims for a 2022 release on Steam.
Blacktail – Exclusive disclosure
New studio The Parasight unveiled its first game: a first-person action-adventure title starring Baba Yaga, called Blacktail. Like the young Yaga, a woman expelled from her village for witchcraft, you are instructed by an ominous voice to pick up a bow and glove and pursue a group of missing children. You fight evil spirits with your newfound weapons while revealing the mystery of Yaga’s past and making choices that will shape her future.
Arcade1Up – New cabinets announced
One of the greatest arcade beat-ups ever made is joining the Arcade1Up lineup. Tastemaker announced during today’s IGN Expo that its boutique arcade collection, which seeks to create replicas of classic standup arcade machines, will soon have Turtles in Time – not to mention a stacked Street Fighter machine and a Mrs. Pac-Man / Galaga combo.
Mortal Shell: The Virtuous Cycle – Exclusive DLC Announcement
Mortal Shell gets a DLC expansion called The Virtuous Cycle. A cryptic teaser offered us a look at a rainy building, a forest with moving trees and a character with what appears to be a new weapon that can freely switch between spear, ax and double sword shape. Be sure to check it out and look for clues as to what’s coming from the soulslike RPG.
Death’s Gambit: Afterlife – Exclusive Platform Announcement
Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is a hugely expanded version of the hardcore 2018 action platformer, and it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch this year.
Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions – Exclusive release date announcement
Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions, a brand new boxing game that is part of the Creed and Rocky series coming to PC and consoles later this year. It’s an arcade game for boxing games in the Creed movie universe, and players will be able to take on the role of famous characters from the Creed and Rocky movies, such as Adonis Creed, Rocky Balboa, Apollo Creed, Ivan and Viktor Drago, Clubber Lang and other.
The Forgotten City – Exclusive Release Date Announcement
The Forgotten City, a murder mystery game set in ancient Rome based on a popular Skyrim mod, finally has a July 28 release date on PC and consoles. We showed a new release date trailer that highlighted the game’s story of being trapped in a time loop while trying to solve a mystery in the heart of an ancient Roman city where no one is allowed to sin.
Unbound: Worlds Apart – Announcement of exclusive release date
Unbound: Worlds Apart, a Metroidvania where you summon portals as a tactic to rearrange your enemies, now has a release date of July 28, 2021. Unbound follows the story of a little magician named Soli with the power to manipulate portals to other worlds , gravity, time and other elements. When a disaster strikes their world, Soli begins a search for the source of an evil in a challenging platform adventure with hand-drawn environments and various secrets and unlockable skills.
Splitgate – Exclusive console version reveals
Splitgate finally comes to consoles two years after debuting for free on PC. 1047 Games says that Splitgate will be a cross-gen title coming to the Xbox Series, X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 along with cross-play between consoles and PC.
Black Skylands – Exclusive announcement of early access launch
Black Skylands, a ‘skypunk’ open world top-down shooter where you fight on land and in beautiful flying machines, arrives on Steam Early Access on July 9th. Announced with a lovely animated trailer, Black Skylands combines open exploration into a world of floating islands, top-down shooting on land and in your airship and base building on your home island.
SkateBird – Exclusive release date and platform announcement
SkateBird – the small miniature skateboarding game with, well, birds – arrives on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One (backwards compatible on Xbox Series X / S), PC and Amazon Luna on August 12th. It starts in the Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Smite x Stranger Things – Crossover Trailer
Smite gets what is perhaps the most unexpected crossover yet, with Stranger Things. The new trailer shows skins for two versions of Eleven and two versions of Hopper as well as Mind Flayer and Demogorgon battling over an arena with their heads upside down.
OlliOlli World – Exclusive gameplay trailer
A new trailer for Roll7’s latest skateboard surprise introduces us to the game setting, Radlandia, and its bizarre set of inhabitants – before showing off a selection of its beautiful, cel-shaded skates.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One – Exclusive Cinematic Trailer
We unveiled a new movie trailer for the next in Frogwares’ Sherlock series, a prequel set in the detective’s younger years, on a Mediterranean island.
Two Point Campus – Exclusive gameplay trailer
The new university building game from the creators of Two Point Hospital got a told look that showed how the game balances serious simulation with bizarre twists.
Sifu – Exclusive gameplay trailer
We offered a new look at the beautifully fluid martial arts action in the new game from Absolver creator Sloclap, which shows excerpts from a brutal flight in an empty nightclub.
Streets of Rage 4 – Exclusive DLC game trailer
We showed new gameplay from the upcoming Mr. X Nightmare expansion that adds three characters to beat’em up – and we get even more gameplay to show on IGN and YouTube.
Martha is dead – exclusive trailer
This intense horror mystery takes place in Italy during the last days of World War II, and this new trailer introduces the game’s mix of folklore and all-too-real horror.
Inculinati – Exclusive trailer
Inculinati is a strategy game designed in the style of medieval manuscripts, and we showed a whole new look at this unique proposal.
Disciples: Liberation – Exclusive Gameplay Trailer
We showed a new look at this RPG with dark imagination, including glimpses of its battle, huge upgrade trees, party talks, exploration and more.
Unpacking – Exclusive trailer
This attentive puzzle gives you careful, good, unpacking of boxes in a series of beautifully illustrated spaces – and unpacks its own quiet story as you do so.
Broken Pieces – Exclusive Trailer
A psychological thriller mystery in 1993, Broken Pieces, challenges players to escape from a coastal village stuck in time – the new trailer shows exploration, puzzles and combat.
Wild West Dynasty – Exclusive trailer
Wild West Dynasty is a management and life sim in the Old West – this trailer gives you a sense of the unusual lengths that developer Virtual Magic went to recreate a realistic-looking frame for the world.
Chernobylite – Exclusive gameplay trailer
A survival game set in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, and the new trailer provides a glimpse of the game’s horror / sci-fi setting, mystery story, crafting and FPS battle.
Haunted Space – Exclusive gameplay trailer
This unique spaceship battle starship dogfighting mixes with cosmic horror while controlling a fighter to break down twisted gods – check out the gameplay trailer above.
Arboria – Exclusive review by developers
Arboria is a soulslike roguelike and throws you like a troll on a mission to save their tribe by destroying monsters and appease the gods, all the while exploring generated dungeons and adding equipment and mutations to your trolls.
Steelrising – Story Reveal
Steelrising, the alternative story game in the midst of the French Revolution, revealed more of its history today. In a new story trailer, developer Spiders (Greedfall) showed his approach to a changed Paris, the brutal breakdown of the revolutionaries from a clockwork, and the game’s slot machine hero, Aegis.
