Human remains found in rural Dane Co. do not wonder if it is missing couples

Sheriff Kalvin Barrett delivers update on missing couples

MADISON, Wis. Authorities say they found human remains Thursday at a rural Dane County property while investigating a missing couple from Windsor.

Dane County Sheriff Calvin Barrett said he would not speculate on whether the remains belong to the missing couple or not. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy of the remains over the weekend, according to a press release.

Bart and Krista Halderson, 50 and 53, were last seen at their home on Thursday, July 1st.

“The members of the Dane County Sheriff’s Office first want to extend our thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of Bart and Krista Halderson,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. “This has been a trying and emotional time, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is doing everything we can to bring closure and justice to this investigation.”

The couple’s son, 23-year-old Chandler Halderson, said the couple traveled to a Fourth of July weekend trip to Langlade County before 6 p.m. 6 Friday 2. July. Halderson has since been taken into custody for giving police false information about his parents’ whereabouts.

In an interview with News 3 Now, Halderson said his parents were picked up by friends on the morning of July 2, but authorities said they thought their disappearance was suspicious.

“Our family would like to thank everyone for their support through this difficult situation, it means a lot to us,” members of the Halderson family said in a release shared by the Sheriff’s Office. “We continue to ask for someone’s help who may have information about where Bart and Krista are. We have strong hopes for the best possible result. ”

Anyone with information about their location should contact the Dane County Communications Center or the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line.

This is a groundbreaking story that will be updated.
