Android Q is currently in beta with an abundance of devices from both Google and OEMs. However, during the last day, we noticed that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has been removed from the Android Q Beta site amidst the unfolding trading problems that plague the company.
The best gifts for Android users
If you have a new US government order placed Huawei on a blacklist, that means no US company can have contact with the Chinese giant. It includes Google, which, in accordance with this order, cut off Huawei's Android license and pulled Play Store and Google App support from future Huawei devices.
Now Huawei Mate 20 Pro is removed from the Android Q Beta page which is not It is not a good sign in any way. While Huawei's development page for the update is still in progress, Google has removed the device from the official list of supported hardware. This is probably due to the ban restricting Google from helping Huawei with updates, such as Play Store access authentication. Despite the 90-day extension, Huawei was given, the company's attention is probably not on a developer beta during that period.
We have especially tracked this page over the last 24 hours, and this change was made once yesterday. The time is a bit suspicious considering the 90-day extension Huawei was awarded.
Update 5/30: Huawei Mate 20 Pro is as quiet again on the Google Android Q Beta page. The device just came back this morning in the same place, it was before the removal. Probably this has to do with the 90-day general license Huawei was granted to continue working on its existing products. This is probably a good sign that not only is work continuing on the beta but that current Huawei devices may be updated.
On a page message, Huawei's Android Q beta was always very limited compared to the rest of the package. While Google and Essential make it easy for everyone to install the update, Huawei limited it exclusively to developers with a registered email address on the Google Play store.
