iOS 14 rolled out in September with a whole new look: For the first time, you can customize everything about your home screen, app icons, and more. With all the changes, you’ll be forgiven for missing out on some minor tweaks, including lots of new messaging features that make it easier to type your texts – specifically group chats. I do not know about you, but mine has gone out of control during the pandemic.
iOS 14’s Messages features help you organize your chats in a few ways. You can now pin conversations to the top of Messages then you see them first; just press long on a thread to secure it (long press again to loosen). You can also tag group chats with emojis or photos to separate them from the package by pressing ‘i’ to get information at the top of the conversation. Within a group chat, you can create a thread by responding specifically to a person. Just enter the person’s name and then tap on the contact card displayed with their info. You can also choose to be notified if someone also answers you directly. Open Settings, tap Messages, and then scroll down to Mentions. Turn on the Notify me option.
