Ohio State Buckeyes and Houston Cougars will match the college basketball court in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday.
Ohio State goes into this on 20-14 parent. Buckeyes' Big Ten Tournament Race ended in the hands of Michigan State, but they were able to capture a major victory over Iowa State in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday.
In rebellion over the cyclones, Ohio's top score was Caleb Wesson, who doubled up 21 points with 12 rebounds and two assists. Keyshawn Woods had a good line for Buckeyes in one as well as with 19 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Over on the Houston side, they roll in here with a total of 32-3 mark. Cougarsne fell to Cincinnati 69-57 in the third match of the AAC tournament, but jumped back in the first round on Friday with an 84-55 victory over Georgia State.
In victory over the Panthers, Houston's top scorer was Corey Davis with 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Doubling up for Cougars which was also Fabian White with 1
Ohio State is 5-0 ATS in their last five neutral-site games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up win. Buckeyes are 2-7 ATS in their last nine after an ATS victory and 1-8 ATS in their last nine NCAA tournament play.
Meanwhile, Cougars 5-1 ATS are in their last six Sunday games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine non-conference games. Houston is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 neutral games and 34-16-2 ATS in their last 52 overalls.
Well, Houston didn't have much trouble with the Panthers in the first round, especially with the 44-24 second half. It's almost enough to get past the disappointing loss to Cincinnati in the conference tournament. Almost.
In any case, Ohio State brought a lot of seizures by sending the cyclones, which was a trendy choice to plow through the tournament. Buckeye's shot in tournament play, but has done well in the three games since, but I still don't think they have anywhere near enough juice to hang out with Houston. I'm probably sticking with Cougars here.
