JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) —- Covid-19 cases are on the rise. That’s the message from Jackson’s health experts.
“People talk about you kind of knowing the height of the pandemic, for Jackson County, that’s actually happening right now. We are getting more cases now than we got in the spring, ”said Henry Ford Health Systems, vice president of public health at Dr. Ford Health Systems. Courtland Keteyian.
The Jackson County Health Department says it has seen the number of cases increase every day this week.
“Cases have increased constantly, probably by 15 or 20 on average per. Day. We had a big increase of about 40 in one day, ”said Jackson County Health Department health officer Rashmi Travis.
It is the largest increase in a single day since the pandemic started.
“We see that societies are spreading. We are not able to ascertain it to a specific place or any kind of event that necessarily takes place, but just the fact that societal dispersal continues to occur in general, ”Travis said.
Courtland Keteyian helped get the test started in Jackson. Now he is worried that people are not taking the virus seriously.
“My concern is that people have really relaxed with the precautions and so we were much better at this actually back in March, April, May,”
It still means wearing a mask and hand washing. Experts say that one thing that surprised them about recent outbreaks has to do with Covid-19 symptoms.
“People will develop symptoms and say oh, it’s nothing and they will continue in their daily lives, for you know a week and it was really Covid,” said Dr. Keteyian.
Therefore, doctors ask people if they develop any symptoms to reach out to their healthcare provider to help slow the spread in the community.
