Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man set off Avengers: Infinity War "very much on purpose," co-author Stephen McFeely says. And when both characters return to Avengers: Endgame the couple will be colored by never going against Thanos (Josh Brolin).
Asked by Buzzfeed how McFeely and writing partner Christopher Markus approached Hawkeye and Ant-Man in Endgame the couple "began to swell", gently not to reveal too much.
McFeely : That's a lot on purpose. So remember … Markus : (To McFeely) Now just … McFeely: (To Markus) No? Markus : Well … McFeely : What am I saying? Markus : I don't know. Just don't answer his questions. Do your … McFeely : Answer my "kick in the teeth"? Markus : Make your "kick in the teeth" …
"Everyone gets kicked in the teeth," McFeely said.
"It means the snap happened to everyone. But we don't want everyone to react the same. So it was useful for us to have some people have different experiences. You saw the end of Ant-Man and Wasp . Scott experiences it completely differently, no matter what it means. "
After Markus almost interrupted, McFeely added:" We have not shown you how Hawkeye experienced it. Probably … "
Markus almost interrupted again.
"You can count on it being different from the other people," continued McFeely. "So these views are useful to us so you can tell different types of stories and not have the same soccer team go into the field."
Following the disastrous events Captain America: Civil War also written by Markus and McFeely, Clint Barton and Scott Lang accepted house arrangements to violate government-imposed Sokovia Accords. Barton ends his retirement once again joins the Avengers to help correct Thanos' devastating snap that halved all life in the known universe.
"We [at Marvel] love Hawkeye. There are big, big stories that come up for Hawkeye, and Jeremy Renner is just as strong an actor as anyone in the MCU, and amazing as this character," Marvel Studios told Chief Kevin Feige i09 last April when he tackled Hawkeye's Infinity War absence.
"But" The guy with the bow and arrow joke " , right? There is a lot of guy with bow and arrow jokes. He even does & # 39; Guy with a bow and arrow & # 39; jokes in some of the movies. So I love people going from & # 39; Oh, Hawkeye is just lucky to be there & # 39; to, oh, where is he? He's not there? What will happen? We need Hawkeye. We want more Hawkeye. "[I love it," added Feige. "That's the best."]
When Barton returns, he assumes the costumed "Ronin" identity, complete with mohawk and tattoos as part of a brand new look.Long was last seen helplessly stranded in Quantum Realm in the middle of the credit scene Ant-Man and Wasp after Allies Hope (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas ) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer
