Hannah Brown has never been salmon on her skin. As she grew up, she washed her face twice a day (a third time if she went to the gym) and never went to bed with her makeup. For most of Hannah's life, her skin was crystal clear.
When she turned 23, she began to suffer from acne.
"I started getting these little bumps everywhere. I thought I should have used the wrong makeup or it was from stress or my period. But it never went away. And I tried everything: Prescription treatments from my dermatologist, microdermabrasion, facials, all laser treatments, contraception, spironolactone, Minocycline. It would get better in a few days, so come back right now, nothing worked, "she told Women's Health.
When she won Miss Alabama in 2017, her acne became even worse. Her skin problems began to affect her confidence.
"My acne really put me back while I was Miss Alabama USA. I was supposed to look like this beauty queen, but I had acne that I couldn't control […] I felt just as uncertain about taking a ton of pictures and was about all these beautiful girls with clear skin, thinking that my skin was used to look like that. I have certainly let my acne get into my head during this competition. "she said.
The treatment that helped Hannah Brown to clear her acne
Acne is different for everyone – what worked for Hannah might not work for you. But the treatment that finally started to do the trick for Hannah was Accutane.
"I had tried everything else so Accutane was really my last option. I started it just before I auditioned for The Bachelor . I am thinking back on myself during that time and going through the audition process "I told you to caste:" You might not have me on your show because I have acne, I'm on Accutane, and my skin may get worse before it gets better, "she said.
Hannah began filming Bachelor when she was still on Accutane, so her face hadn't cleared up yet. In fact, Hannah almost didn't go The Bachelor because of her acne.
But having acne when she was on Bachelor was not easy
When she was on Accutane, she had to let her way breathe most of the time. only had makeup when she was on a date with Colton Underwood or other smiling at a cocktail party.
"I wanted to use Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation because it was full cover and would be put in. Then I loved Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder. It was my lifeguard. I kept it with me wherever I went," she said.
How Hannah's Skin Does Now
When Hannah became a Bachelorette, her skin had mostly passed. Of course, pistols still pop up here and there, but Hannah doesn't stress about her skin as much as she used to.
"It's fun because my first night like The Bachelorette I had a huge pimple popping up on my face out of nowhere, and there were a few other times during the recording that I would get one bump here or there. But it's life. Now that I have a flare, I just use Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment to wipe it out and call it a day, "she said.
