Adam Levine won't be one of the coaches turning his chair on the next season of "The Voice."
Maroon 5 frontman, an original coach since the show's 2011 debut, departs after 16 seasons reported hosts Carson Daly on Friday's "Today" show . Daly serves as an anchor to the morning program.
"Of course, many viewers will miss seeing his kinship with Blake Shelton," Daly said. "He will always be a valued member of the The Voice family, and of course we want him nothing but the best."
During his time in the red chair, Levine tied three victories: Javier Colon (Season 1), Tessanne Chin (Season 5) and Jordan Smith (Season 9).
Daly said that Levine was to be replaced by Gwen Stefani, who was previously the coach of the seasons 7, 9 and 12.
Since 2015, she has dated Shelton, an original coach.
Season 16 of the show ended Tuesday. Maelyn Jarmon was crowned the winner, giving John Legend a victory in his first season coach.
On the day of the season final, Levine shared a social media image that grazed Shelton's cheek. "A rare moment of tenderness," he wrote the shot .
