Google uses the majority of security warning email to tell Edge users to install Chrome

From time to time, we complain that Microsoft is pushing their new Edge browser in various nooks and crannies on their services and operating system, but it seems that despite Google’s overwhelming 70% browser share, the company can’t resist engaging in the same behavior.

Techdows reports that if you sign in to Gmail on Edge, Google sends you a login alert email and uses most of this space to push to their Chrome browser.

The note says:

“Hi, you just logged in to a new computer. Make the most of Windows 10 with Chrome browser. Chrome is a fast, simple and secure browser built for the modern web. Download Chrome ”

Of course, Google is free (for now) to add anything they want to their alarm emails, but with owning more than 2/3 of the browser market, the company might consider being more careful about using one of their services to market another.
