Google accidentally announces ‘Pixel Buds A-Series’

In late March, we exclusively reported on Google’s next wireless earphones, and the first image leaked a week later. Google today announced the “Pixel Buds A-Series” on Twitter, even though the revelation was entirely an accident.

The tweet was deleted after being live for about 10 minutes and probably the result of accidental scheduling.

The post from @Android said that the wireless headphones “have arrived” and announced the recently updated Fast Pair experience. That said, there is no Google Store retail listing or associated Made by Google announcement.

They are officially called the “Pixel Buds A-Series”

; in both the social media post and the attached image. The pair shown is predominantly white from the circular touch-sensitive dome to a light gray underside and stabilizer arc. The secondary color is also used for the inside of the stone-shaped charging case that replaces the black color used today on 2nd generation headphones. A Google marketing email has already revealed a forest green hue.

While we now know the name and branding of Google’s next headphones, we’re still missing other details. There is only a vague reference to “quality sound.”

At this point, a disclosure is likely to be imminent with I / O 2021 serving as a possible notification option.
