Gianforte lifts some COVID restrictions

Governor Greg Gianforte on Wednesday issued a new directive to replace several directives related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The governor’s directive removes some restrictions for small businesses in Montana, including restrictions on operating hours and capacity.

In a press release, Gianforte said that “small business owners throughout Montana have worked to create a safe environment for their employees and customers while keeping their doors open. The new directive recognizes the many different challenges companies face in this pandemic and gives them the flexibility to develop and implement appropriate policies based on industry best practices. “

The directive replaces the 25 ̵

1; person limit on public gatherings with simple guidance that “all public gatherings or events must be managed in a way that meets the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing.”

Where industry best practices do not exist, the governor’s directive states that “such policies must be developed and implemented in accordance with federal, state, and local rules and guidelines.”

Gianforte also outlined a way to lift the mandate of the state mask. First, the most vulnerable mountaineers are vaccinated. Second, the legislature is sending a step to its desk to protect businesses and schools from lawsuits if they strive in good faith to protect individuals from the spread of coronavirus and follow clear public health guidelines.

The new guide will enter into force at 5 Friday, January 15th. Click here to read the entire document.

“Improving our response to the pandemic has been my top priority,” Gianforte said. “Today I am issuing a new directive that removes or replaces the cumbersome layers of existing ones. These new directives are ready. They are practical. They make sense. And they are easy to understand. ”
