Genshin Impact’s 2.0 update: Inazuma region, gardening, more

The moment Genshin impact fans have been waiting for almost since the game came out is finally here. Inazuma, an often rumored, highly anticipated in-game area inspired by Japan, launches July 21st. Not only that, it arrives along with such a major update that Chinese developer Mihoyo has found it appropriate to skip the game’s version from 1.6 to 2.0.

Inazuma is the core of the upcoming update – a brand new region similar in size to the game’s previous two main areas, Mondstadt and Liyue. Where the former has a kind Breath of the Wild-meet-high-fantasy mood and the latter pays homage to many elements of Chinese culture, Inazuma, the anime-inspired game is the first plug in a region that is obviously inspired by Japanese traditions.

Trailer is not subtle about this with architecture and archetypes (shogun, samurai, ninja) screaming Japan about as loud as possible, as well as a wealth of cherry blossoms. That said, it all looks beautiful Genshin impact‘s lush art style, to the point that fans are basically losing their minds right now. The new region’s soundtrack was meanwhile recorded in collaboration with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra to give it an authentic taste.

A new region means lots of new things to do, including a “massive” number of new Archon quests and side quests. There will also be three new characters that can be played: Ayaka, who exercises a katana and ice power, Yoimiya, who uses a bow and fire (and who will hopefully be better than the other fire / bow character Amber, infamous for the game’s worst ) and Sayu, a wind ninja.

On top of all this, Genshin impact adds cross-progression between the PS5, PS4, PC, Android and iOS versions of the game. Also: gardening! Once version 2.0 is launched, you can collect and plant seeds in the fields of the realm of your Serenitea Pot, which is pretty much the game’s player house system.

The update arrives – along with new events and a lot of systemic tweaks – in less than two weeks. I guess this means I should probably start doing my daily chores again, huh.
