Travelers at Flordia Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FFL) were evacuated Saturday morning after a “security investigation” affected traffic to the airport.
A source told Fox News that a passenger allegedly missed his plane and threatened to blow up the place, although police had not confirmed any details about the incident at the time of publication.
“A safety investigation is affecting traffic along #FLL’s top level at Terminals 2 & 3,” FFL Airport tweeted from its official account Saturday morning. “The areas in T2 and T3 have been evacuated as a precaution. If you are on #FLL or are on your way, we ask for your patience as we work to resolve the matter.”
FFL later tweeted that while the top-level airport runway was reopened in an ongoing security investigation, access to the ticket level in Terminal 2 and both levels in Terminal 3 will remain closed. Travelers also still have access to terminals 1 and 4 as well as the car rental center.
Videos and photos posted to social media show crowds of people who were told to evacuate the airport.
