America’s first new main airline in almost 15 years – Avelo Airlines – premiered today at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) with travel-inspired routes and bagging at low prices. Initial single ticket prices start at $ 1
Avelo offers low daily fares combined with a smooth and convenient travel experience that flies non-stop unmanned routes between BUR and 11 destinations across the western United States. Flights are open for booking on aveloair.com from today at takes flight from 28 April 2021 with current availability until 15 September 2021.
“Avelo has a simple purpose – to inspire travel,” said Avelo founder, chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. “People are ready to reconnect with family and friends and explore new places. Avelo is another and better type of airline, built from the ground up to offer an affordable, convenient and caring travel experience. ”
Avelo’s management team represents more than 200 years of collective aviation experience. Former co-founder and president of Allegiant Air and CFO of United Airlines, Levy brings more than two decades of experience in airline management. In addition to Allegiant and United, Avelo’s management team includes former executives from Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Northwest Airlines and Spirit Airlines.
“After more than 20 years of constantly declining consumer choice, the American aviation audience wants and deserves more options and lower prices,” Levy said. “Avelo offers both – along with a refreshingly smooth and practical experience.”
LA’s best airport
Avelo has chosen Hollywood Burbank Airport as its first base. BUR’s convenience for Greater Los Angeles, customer-friendly compact size and lower cost were all important considerations. In fact, Fodor’s Travel BUR named “Best US Airport” in 2019.
“Locals know that BUR is LA’s best airport,” Levy said. No airport is closer to downtown LA, Hollywood, Pasadena and Southern California’s many attractions other than BUR. As San Fernando Valley’s hometown airport, BUR gives you easy access to an abundance of beautiful and relaxing new non-stop destinations throughout California and the western United States. And for those considering LA for their next vacation or long weekend getaway, the BUR is ultra-convenient, stress-free gateway to Greater LA and the world-famous fun-in-the-sun activities Southern California is known for. ”
Whether customers leave or arrive, BUR promises a refreshingly hassle-free experience. BUR offers hassle-free pick-up and drop-off, smaller crowds, shorter walking distance from edge to gate, unmatched speed for delivery of plane-to-carousel bags and shorter TSA security lines. Customers will be at their gate in an instant, while also saving on parking and ground transportation traveling to and from the airport.
“Hollywood Burbank Airport is an example of the convenient, caring and smooth experience that sets Avelo apart,” said Levy. “We are grateful for the enthusiastic partnership that BUR CEO Frank Miller, the airport commissioners and staff have welcomed us with. It’s not surprising why BUR is LA’s favorite airport. ”
Avelo originally serves a collection of beautiful and relaxing destinations that are not currently served by BUR. Avelo’s opening routes focus on outdoor life, national parks and coastal and mountain terrain – as well as offering air service to a growing population of teleworkers:
- Arcata / Eureka, CA (ACV), Victorian charm in the heart of California’s Redwood Coast
- Bend / Redmond, OR (RDM), where the snow-covered cascades surround the high desert
- Bozeman, MT (BZN), the ramp to Big Sky Country and Yellowstone National Park
- Eugene, OR (EUG), where Willamette Valley begins
- Grand Junction, CO (GJT), where the Colorado River meets dramatic red rock landscapes
- Medford, OR (MFR), a launch pad for Rogue Valley and Oregon’s wine country
- Pasco, WA (PSC), 300 days of sunshine in the heart of Washington’s wine country
- Phoenix / Mesa, AZ (AZA), a stress-free airport alternative to a year-round desert oasis
- Odgen, UT (OGD), a convenient Salt Lake City alternative to Utah’s famous mountains
- Redding, CA (RDD), 600 square miles of state and national parks beckon the adventure seeker
- Santa Rosa, CA (STS), the gateway to California’s wine country
Pay less. Travel more
The airline will initially operate single-class, fuel-efficient Boeing 737-800 189-seat aircraft – offering a more comfortable experience than the regional aircraft often used by airports served by Avelo. Avelo’s surprisingly low daily rates include no change fees or call center fees for customers who choose to make reservations by phone.
Avelo also offers several unbound travel-enhancing options at low prices in the industry, giving customers the flexibility to pay for what they value:
- First checked bag: $ 10
- Carry-On overhead bag: $ 35
- Priority boarding: $ 10
- Pets in the cabin: $ 95
- Seating: Customers can choose from several seating options. Avelo’s 189-seat 737-800 aircraft offers 129 standard sleek 29-inch pitch seats. Predefined seating for windows and aisles starts at $ 5. Avelo aircraft also have 60 seats with a range of 31 to 38 inches. These seats start at $ 18.
Fly with confidence
Avelo takes all precautions to protect the customer’s health at the airport and during their flight. Avelo aircraft are cleaned and disinfected regularly. Trays, galleys, toilets and all other contact surfaces are disinfected every night with Calla 1452 (hospital class) disinfectant. In addition to disinfection and cleaning daily, Avelo regularly treats the entire aircraft with an advanced antimicrobial protective agent that kills viruses, bacteria and germs on all surfaces. This Zoono treatment forms a colorless, odorless protective shield and is safe for human contact.
In addition, the cabin air is updated every two to three minutes by the Boeing 737’s top-down air filtration and ventilation system. The system directs the airflow from the ceiling to the bottom of the seat – not front to rear – and greatly reduces particle movements in the cabin. All Avelo aircraft operate with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, which remove 99.9% of air particles, including viruses such as coronavirus, in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
All customers receive a convenience pack containing a hand sanitizer, as well as a bottle of water and a small snack.
Federal law requires everyone – including Avelo customers and crew members – to wear a face mask at the airport and on the plane (unless they are eating or drinking). Avelo also encourages social distancing of best practices whenever possible.
