First call: Super Bowl odds after Steelers draft to Najee Harris; Tom Wilson is at it again

Oddsmen do not seem impressed with Steelers’ preparation of Najee Harris. Tom Wilson is up to his old tricks. And a couple of happy goaltending debuts with Pittsburgh ties.

All that in Tuesday’s “first call.”

Did Najee move the number?

BetOnline.ag released its Super Bowl odds after the NFL draft.

How much did the Steelers’ decision to draft Najee Harris affect their chances?

Well, not at all. The Steelers were 33/1

to win the Super Bowl before the draft. They are now 33/1. The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens are on 16/1 down from 18/1. The Kansas City Chiefs remain 11/2 favorites.

Meanwhile, the Penguins’ hot run through March and April narrowed their Stanley Cup odds. They are now at 12/1 to win the championship, the same as the Washington Capitals. It is currently seventh in the NHL.

Pens had been 16/1 on April 1st. The Colorado Avalanche are still the favorites on 5/1.

Typically Tom

Tom Wilson is at it again. This time, Washington Capitals fines … oh, I’m sorry. Did I write “bully”? I meant … Washington Capitals came into it with Pavel Buchnevich and Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers.

With the Rangers up 3-2 in the second period, Wilson threw Buchnevich in the back of his head while Buchnevich lay face down on the ice. It touched a scrum, and Wilson slammed Panarin to the ice before hitting him in the head as well.

Wilson received a 10-minute offense. Then he bowed to the Rangers before stepping out of the ice.

The MSG network resumed the game during its break report. Former NHL goalkeeper Stephen Valiquette tore Wilson apart.

Needless to say, the Rangers were disgusted afterwards, as you can see from the reactions of forward Mika Zibanejad and coach David Quinn.

In terms of the game itself, the Rangers lost 6-3. So that – along with a Boston Bruins win – means they are eliminated from the playoffs. The Penguins, Capitals, Islanders and Bruins will be the Eastern teams that qualify for the mail season in some order determined by the end of the season.

Former Penguins Conor Sheary and Daniel Sprong scored. Wilson added an empty nights for good measure. Alex Ovechkin played a shift before leaving the ice after 39 seconds. He had not played in four games due to a lower body injury.

According to head coach Peter Laviolette, Ovechkin felt good this morning but was not in top form after warming up. He tried to skate during the game but was still not ready.

Defender John Carlson returned and played 25 minutes. He had missed the previous two matches.

The Washington victory combined with the Penguins’ 7-2 loss in Philadelphia means that pens and caps are tied on top of the East Division with 71 points per game. PCS. The Penguins have three games left. Caps have four.

Boston is number three with 68 points. The Islanders are in fourth with 67.

A win for Wexford

Congratulations to Buffalo Sabers goalkeeper Michael Houser. Born in Youngstown and raised in Wexford, Houser got his first NHL start on Monday. He got a 4-2 victory.

Houser made 34 saves along the way. He is 28. He worked 13 years working with minors before his convocation.

Happy Kappy

Speaking of goaltending victories in debuts, former Robert Morris goalkeeper Justin Kapelmaster made his debut in the American Hockey League for the Cleveland Monsters Sunday night.

And he got a 3-2 victory over the Texas Stars.

The conductor made 26 rescues along the way. In its lonely season with the Colonials, the Ferris State transfer was 12-14-3 with a 0.929 reduction percentage and 2.75 goals relative to the average.
