Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians shares some fond memories of the Steelers Super Bowl XL team.
Matt Stafford’s Detroit mansion is for sale. So obviously he’s coming to Pittsburgh.
And many ex-penguins had great nights in the NHL. Well, not all ex-penguins. See if you can guess which one did not.
All this in Wednesday̵
Looks familiar?
Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians appeared on NBCSN’s “The Rich Eisen Show” on Tuesday. And he sounds optimistic about his team’s chances of winning the Super Bowl LV over the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.
Why? Because in his words, this team reminds him of the 2005 Super Bowl XL-winning Steelers. Arians was the wide receiver coach on that team.
When we spoke to #GoBuc’s head coach @BruceArians earlier this season, we asked him when he thought things would click for this team …
Today, the #SuperBowl coach replied: pic.twitter.com/s3tH3qeFYo

Arians actually told Eisen that his wife was the one who made the connection. So he drilled down on the numbers and started to see some similarities.
Both teams were 7-5 after 12 matches. Both teams had to win three playoff games. And both teams play excellent complementary football with strong team spirit.
“The comrade on the sidelines,” Arians explained. “The way this team pulls for each other. The offense may be dragging out the defense. The special teams may be pulling everyone out. The defense pulls out the offense. Everyone just has so much fun doing it. ”
Well, if the Arians are right that the trend continues versus the Chiefs, expect Tampa to get a few lucky penalty flags. Look for Leonard Fournette to blow up a 75-yard touchdown run. And expect a trick pass from Antonio Brown to Mike Evans.
So expect Steelers fans to stop thinking this analogy is so cute.
Stafford property for sale
Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford is one of many NFL quarterbacks expected to be on the move this offseason.
It certainly looks like he expects it, based on this little treat.

Stafford has two years and $ 43 million left on his $ 135 million five-year contract, which was signed in 2017. He gets a $ 10 million bonus on the fifth day of the league year in March. So even if he does not quite get $ 6.5 million for the house, I do not think he and his family will starve.
You know how this news is going to go over in Pittsburgh, right?
“Hey, Stan. Love the show.
“Yinz knows that if Stafford gets a lot for his house, he can just rent one of them at Hot Metal Bridge. So take less to get to Stillers and back up Big Ben for a year. Boom! Make it happen. I hang up and listen. ”
That’s a lot
While the Penguins lost to the Boston Bruins 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night, it was an evening for the ex-Penguins during other NHL games.
Justin Schultz and Daniel Sprong both scored as the Washington Capitals beat the New York Islanders 3-2.

Patric Hornqvist came on the board during a 4-3 Florida Panthers shootout victory in Columbus and scored with just three seconds left in regulation.

That is already his fourth goal. And he also got the shootout winner.

Do you remember David Perron? He had two and another in the shootout during a 5-4 St. Louis Blues victory in Las Vegas.

Even Pittsburgh native Brandon Saad had a pair as his Colorado Avalanche won 7-3 over the San Jose Sharks.

I know, I know. Like overtime in Boston was not painful enough.
Jabbing Jack
In the meantime, I give you balance in the universe, Jack Johnson.
The very vicious former Penguin is not having an easy time in New York. The defender took a penalty kick, which led to a Buffalo goal. And Rangers fans and the media responded with the usual, um, patience and forgiveness that Johnson typically got in Pittsburgh.
We tried to tell you, @NYRangers. The whole Twitter tried. Even Penguin fans tried.
No surprises here that Jack Johnson is once again ravaged by bad play, but you really have to feel for the guy. # NYR pic.twitter.com/7x1hiUeTo3

Sam Rosen: “Boy the Rangers have been very disciplined the last few games. You have to wonder when they will take a penalty again Joe ”

Jack Johnson on the ice again after a goal? I’m over this experiment. IT DOES NOT WORK

I can not stand to see 50 more games of Johnson. I’m becoming a KHL fan

Yes. It seems pretty consistent. Rangers ended up losing 3-2. So far, Johnson is a minus-4 in five games without points.
Enjoy that acquisition, New York. Hopefully Jameson Taillon works better for you.
