Falcons: Trading back with the Lions for their 2022 first-round pick would be a dream scenario

It’s no secret that I want to switch back to the 2021 NFL draft, but why? Atlanta needs their future quarterback in the end, and this draft is definitely loaded at the top. I prefer Zach Wilson over any quarterback that could be available, but I really like that Justin Fields and Trey Lance as well. However, moving back to the seventh overall election would give Atlanta the best opportunity ̵

1; for many reasons.

Behold, I will not sit here and pack up the lions; they are doing it against themselves and 2021 should be no different. Matthew Stafford has been replaced by Jared Goff, which is a significant downgrade, and it is likely that they will also lose two of their other best players Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. To make matters worse – Jeff Okudah had a very tough rookie season and they do not have many other building blocks on the team.

Maybe the Lions see Jared Goff as their starting quarterback in the future, but their new general manager Brad Holmes should know more than anyone when he was in Los Angeles throughout Goff’s career. Detroit could starve to acquire a quarterback, and teams like the Jets, Eagles, Panthers, 49ers, Falcons and others potentially stand in the way of the upcoming draft. Atlanta has so much leverage by picking fourth overall, and they need to use that to get Detroit’s 2022 first round if they can.

See, Dan Campbell is a … interesting guy, to put it mildly. He has a lot of passion, but what do his Xs and Us look like? Will he transform Jared Goff into a quarterback who will pull a terrible list for the playoffs? My money is at No. In fact, I think the Lions are the favorites to pick first in 2022 unless the Texans have something to say about it. Swapping back with Detroit not only gives Atlanta a seven-time prize pick to capture an elite prospect, but they could also grab the first pick of the 2022 draft NFL.

In this scenario, the Falcons get their choice of quarterbacks in a deep class with Sam Howell, Kedon Slovis, Tyler Shough, or Spencer Rattler – but they also get a year to look around Matt Ryan even needs to be replaced. Atlanta moves back with the Lions and choosing a striker in an emergency position along with other choices makes way too much sense. When you consider Detroit’s prospects for 2022, it would be a dream scenario if Brad Holmes comes and calls.
