LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – As Las Vegas may set a new high-temperature record this weekend, flights will be affected.
Several people expressed their frustration on Twitter after their flight to Las Vegas was canceled on Friday.
Southwest Airlines responded to a customer on Twitter, “extreme heat results in some cancellation of Air Traffic Control (ATC) Vegas flight interruptions.”
McCarran Airport on Twitter advised passengers to check with their airline for their flight status.
Lots of questions about airline cancellations today. @LASairport is open and the planes take off and land. @FAANews implemented a traffic management program due to the weather conditions and caused some delays. Contact the airline for information on your flight status.

The FAA said Friday afternoon that the delays in McCarran are due to wind and heat.
“The delays at McCarran International Airport are due to heat and wind. They are currently reorganizing the runways, ”a spokesman for the agency said via email.
