The estimated range for COVID-19 reproduction “R” number in England has reached higher, the UK Ministry of Health said on Friday and is estimated at between 0.8 and 1.1.

An R value between 0.8 and 1.1 means that every 10 infected on average infects between 8 and 11 other people. That compares with an estimated range of 0.8 to 1.0 last week.

An R-number above one indicates exponential growth of an epidemic, although government researchers say the closely monitored statistics mean less when the incidence of infections is as low as it is currently in the UK.

The Ministry of Health said the latest daily growth rate for COVID-19 infections was between -4% to -1% compared to -5% to -1% last week.
