Grey’s Anatomy alum, Isaiah Washington, 57, recently repeated her feud with former co-star Katherine Heigl, 41, 13 years after he was fired from the ABC drama.
And series star Ellen Pompeo decided to share a recall GIF of herself and Heigl as their characters ahead of a brand new episode of Grey’s Anatomy Thursday night.
‘Hi it’s Grays day !!!’ wrote Pompeo, 51, who shared the GIF with his 1.8 million followers just three days after Washington’s harsh remarks about Heigl were posted on the platform.
Strange timing: Ellen Pompeo decided to share a recurring GIF of herself a Grey’s Anatomy alum Katherine Heigl, 41, as their characters in front of a brand new episode of the series Thursday night
GIF showed Ellen, who plays Meredith Gray, and Heigl, who played Izzie Stevens from 2005 until her departure in 2010, enjoying a delicious moment.
‘Dude, she fought all cage against you,’ Gray said to Stevens, before playfully laying his head on her shoulder.
Although the GIF election raised some eyebrows, Ellen’s Twitter presence seemed to be strictly aimed at interacting with fans as the episode played out Thursday night.
On Monday, Washington stunned fans when he unexpectedly posted a photo of Heigl with a seemingly antagonistic caption centered around free speech.
He was fired from the ABC drama months after an incident in which he allegedly used a homophobic slur.

No love lost: Isaiah Washington has taken to social media to rekindle his feud with former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl 13 years after he was fired from ABC drama months after an incident in which he allegedly used a homophobic slur
‘I NEVER stop exercising my freedom of speech’: The 57-year-old actor took to Twitter on Monday to post a photo of his 41-year-old former castmate with a caption centered around free speech
Washington was on the defensive when he replied, ‘Your opinions are your own, but you are a fool, a liberal and and misguided feminist to even try to defend this woman. You were not there, so die on this hill, whoever you are. She could have cared less about her gay friend. Chandra Wilson knows all about it too. ‘
He was then asked by another user on social media why he would bring this up after 10 years, to which he replied: ‘Because it is the TRUTH. The end. ‘
It is still not known what may have caused Washington to create a social media post.
Their feud dates back to 2006, when Heigl claimed that Washington had used a homophobic slur that left her ‘furious and frustrated.’
Back in the day: He left the series in 2007 after an on-set clash the year before, in which an anti-gay epithet was directed at another cast member at the time, TR Knight, as the cast is seen in 2006
Washington apologized for the incident in a statement to People in October 2006, saying: ‘I sincerely apologize for my actions and the unfortunate use of words during the recent incident on stage.
‘Both are below my own personal standards. I only have respect for my colleagues and have personally apologized to everyone involved. ‘
Then months later at the Golden Globes in 2007, a reporter asked about the alleged incident, in which he allegedly used the word ‘f ****’ against co-star Knight and Washington not only ever refused to use that word, but also repeated the slur.
‘You were not there, so die on this hill, no matter who you are’: Katherine had come to her friend’s defense at the time, which was brought up by author Elizabeth Denton on social media, and Washington blew her up
Heigl criticized him in public only a few weeks later when she told Access Hollywood at the time: ‘I’m getting really honest right now, he’s just not going to speak in public. Period. Sorry, needless to say, I’m not okay with that. ‘
Washington recently spoke about the alleged incident during an episode of his Fox Nation series Isaiah Washington: Kitchen Talk.
He said: ‘The story was a lie and misunderstood. But as a family guy, dad, I thought I was helping the family. ‘
The actor also said he would never apologize for anything again.
