Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma was recently asked in an interview with IGN whether Nintendo seemed to be pumping out even more Legend of Zelda spin-offs between the series’ main releases.
Aonuma said it really is an ‘idea-first’ approach and explained how a lot of circumstances need to be set up before a project like this is considered.
“We are always looking for valuable creative projects, but they only occur when several different conditions match. So I find it difficult for us to have conscious control over the frequency.”
In the case of Hyrule Warriors: Age of CalamityAonuma believes the circumstances could be “adjusted like this”
“We make this decision based on its creative benefits, just as we did this time.”
