Nice looking RPG Edge Of Eternity has been fighting its way through early access for over two years now and the quest is almost complete. After two years of releasing several chapters in the story and other game updates, Midgar Studio has announced that Edge Of Eternity will launch in full on June 8 with its final two chapters to end the game for real.
In the traditional RPG way, a catastrophe has happened around the world that your heroes are responsible for defeating. “Heryon’s world is torn apart,” says Midgar Studio. “Many years ago, the arrival of a mysterious alien force finally threw the planet into an endless catastrophic war, in which both magic and technology were released to their worst and darkest extremes. Now an even greater threat has emerged: in a despicable act of war, attackers released the corrosion, a deadly disease that transforms living forms of every kind into malformed abominations. ”
Midgar says these final two chapters should add another five to ten hours of playing time to the game to end the game’s finale with heroes Daryon and Selene. In the new trailer right here, you can look at Eternity’s turn-based combat system, the technological-encounter-magic world and – oh yes, a giant cat assembly.
I’m getting real. I’ve played my share of fantasy RPGs with protagonists who have pop star hair and glowing swords. It looks like an attractive game, but what caught my eye was the giant cat creature up there. The Edge Of Eternity says it has five human companions to unlock and a furry friend, “a fearless but sweet animal.” Look at the feathered, soft ears. There is good RPG juice there.
One of the more interesting bits of Edge Of Eternity is that the developers have released a modding toolkit. Not many mods seem to have been made so far, though that might change with the full release. Oh but look, someone is gone and has completed a Final Fantasy sword on Nexus Mods. Should have seen it coming.
In their announcement post, Midgar Studio also mentions that this will be the last chance to get the Edge Of Eternity at 33% off before the price rises on April 14th. You can find it over on Steam, where until then it was priced at £ 13.39 / $ 16.74. The game’s full launch is scheduled for June 8.
