The WWE Hall of Famer Edge recently said that Brock Lesnar should not have been the one to break Undertaker’s legendary undefeated WrestleMania streak.
Edge recently had a talk with Sports Nation and opened up to Brock Lesnar, who broke The Undertaker’s WrestleMania series in 2014. He recalled how he refused to end the series at WrestleMania 24 in 2008 and further made it clear that Roman Reigns should have been the chosen one.
“I think it should have been hidden from someone you want to tie the rocket to. And you know, and you trust and will like … for me, Roman Reigns was the guy to do it. And it is. here, it must be done.I know I understand that he is a credible to do it, but okay, well, this is professional wrestling.It̵7;s not MMA.So for me you do it with the character that you think you will be pulling your cart for the next 10-15 years. “
Edge headline WrestleMania 24 with The Undertaker
Edge had established himself as a megastar on WWE TV when 2008 came around. He was the top heel at WWE SmackDown at the time and started a furious feud with The Undertaker over the World Cup.
The duo battled in the show’s main event, and there were moments in the match when WWE made fans believe the streak would end that night. Undertaker eventually defeated Edge to win the world heavyweight championship.
The Undertaker’s streak was finally broken at WrestleMania 30 by his arch-rival Brock Lesnar. The big win made Lesnar possibly the most dangerous unit in WWE history.
He went on to squash WWE legend John Cena at SummerSlam 2014 to win the WWE Championship. Lesnar was regularly used in WWE’s main event scene for years after his victory over The Undertaker.
Do you agree with Edge’s opinion that Brock Lesnar breaks The Undertaker’s WrestleMania series? What would have been your reaction if Roman Reigns was the one to break it?
