Drew Barrymore cried as he discussed his 2016 divorce from her husband Will Kopelman during a revealing interview Sunday morning.
The 45-year-old actress reflected on the failure of her four-year marriage on Sunday’s Today with Willie Geist.
“I really did not take divorce well. I took it really hard. Even now I’m like, oh, it’s such a painful thing, ”said the new talk show host.
“It took me five years to be able to speak with strength, articulation, perspective, subsequently and see everything we did right,” she added.
“Because when we got divorced, it felt like everything was just wrong. … I think it applies to everyone who believes that something will be forever, and it is not. ”
The beloved star said she does not expect to get married again soon.
“I do not know how to reopen it. It’s like something closed and it was closed. I think I’m just as scared to find love again as I would be, as if it never happened. ”
Barrymore and Kopleman have managed to put their disagreements aside to raise their two daughters.
“But the good news is that his family and I kind of made the most important choice: to be so together and united and connected,” Barrymore shared.
“I guess what they call family. I know from not growing up with any family at all that this was the last thing I would do for my daughters. ”
Barrymore was also married to producer Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995 and comedian Tom Green from 2001 to 2002.
