Donald Trump Jr. has urged Elon Musk to come up with his own social media platform that can “blow Twitter away” and save “freedom of speech in America” when he complained about his father’s permanent ban from the microblogging site after the US siege of the Capitol .
Donald Trump’s eldest son took to Twitter for what he called its “bias” and “one-way targeted” censorship, urging the SpaceX boss to create a rival social networking site that apparently provides a platform for “neural arbitrators.” apparently categorizing his father as such.
“Wanted to come up with something to deal with nonsense about the censorship that is going on right now and of course targeted a path,”
“This guy put manned people in the room. He did it privately. He took over the great government and did it better, cheaper, faster than they ever could. This is the guy who has to do it, ”he said in the video clip, which was shared on Instagram late on Tuesday.
Don Jr. said he considered Mr Musk to be the right person to stand up to Twitter after the technology mogul took on “West Coast high tech” to become a “de facto judge of free speech”. His comments came after Amazon, Apple and Google blacklisted right-wing social media networks Parler.
Twitter and Facebook also banned the outgoing president permanently on January 8, after his supporters marched against the U.S. Capitol – at his request – before overpowering police and riots inside the Capitol Building. The attack left five people dead, including a police officer.
“Someone like him has the brilliance of coming up with something that blows Twitter away,” Mr Trump said of Mr Musk.
He suggested that the new platform could regulate against hate speech or violence, but at the same time provide a platform for neutral commentators and not become a “left-wing organization” that platforms people with conservative thoughts.
“I’m not looking for a conservative echo chamber, I want a platform to argue my ideas in relation to someone else’s and not just people in one place telling me what I want to hear,” Trump said.
He expressed dismay and shock at Russia’s opposition leaders, who spoke in a recent debate on US tech giants and censorship, saying: “Russians are lecturing America on freedom of speech today. It has become so scary ”.
“Elon, why don’t you do that. Get out there and come up with a concept. “I think you’re literally the guy to save freedom of speech in America,” he said, concluding without proof that the incoming Biden administration would “trample on freedom of speech” in the country to achieve its political goals.
