"Destiny 2" Needs To Be Clear About The Deal With Year 1 And 2 Armor In Year 3

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is not only bringing big new content additions to the game, But it is also possible to be the largest rework of how armor works since the series launched. You will be able to customize your armor by swapping in and out different perks, which means that you will be able to combine armor you like the look of. with armor that works for your build when you usually had to pick one or the other.

This has gotten a lot of people excited about the possibilities, myself included, but now I'm a little concerned about how this is going to work in practice

Previously I guess what this meant you would be able to pull any "blank" copy of your Destiny 2 armor from collections, years 1-2, since no longer had any base stats attached to it be able to have new perks slotted into. A kind of workaround for transmog.

But… that apparently is not how this works, and I think Bungie needs to be more clear on how it does work.

Bungie is changing Everyday armor to be universal ornaments on any piece of legendary gear, but that does not appear to work for other armor, despite Bungie showing off a bunch of year 1 gear in trailers. When asked about this on stream, Bungie seemed to indicate that past armor sets would be brought forward in time, presumably the way we've seen a lot of guns and some armor “brought forward” into year two systems this past year.

This is not great and signifies that once again, this is a change over problem which will invalidate a lot of gear we currently have. When guns added more perks and mods in year two, we didn't even find slots in our old guns or a bonus perk attached to them. And now it seems like our current armor will not work with the new slot system, nor will it be as easy as simply pulling a blank slotted copy from collections.

That raises questions about how hard we should be working to collect armor right now

  • Is there any point to me grinding out something like a full Iron Banner set?
  • Should I be going back and farming for missing pieces of EP armor to finish that collection, or am
  • Will we have to re-grind something like Gambit Prime sets when we've spent weeks doing that already?
  • For an event like Solstice of Heroes who rewards cool armor, are we going to end up in the same position as last year where it was made useless a month later?

These are questions I think we need Bungie to answer now so We're not all surprised when fall comes around. I really do not know what is worth grinding for this point because I do not understand what is going to be carried forward to year 3, and it would be nice to have some clarity on this point.

Hopefully this is going to be addressed soon, but it definitely feels like something that should be discussed sooner than later before people bother with raid sets, IB, Solstice or any other grind thinking they can use the look of that armor in year 3 when it's possible that's not how this works at all. & nbsp;
