Des Moines government buildings arose before the inauguration

Polk County Superintendent Matt McCoy confirmed Wednesday night with the KCCI that court buildings and historic courthouses were being strengthened. McCoy said the move comes out of an “abundance of caution.” “We have been advised to be prepared for potential challenges leading up to the inauguration,” McCoy said. McCoy said the advice came from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. This comes after the US Capitol was stormed last week and President Donald Trump was indicted by Congress on Wednesday. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris will take office on January 20.
