The actor who played Violet in the "Willy Wonka & Chocolate Factory" has been taken away from life support after suffering a major medical emergency this week.
Denise Nickerson's family, 62, wrote on Facebook on Tuesday that she had a "major medical emergency" and was taken to the hospital with seizures and lungs and respiratory distress. She also had pneumonia.
They sent Wednesday morning that she was taken out of life support.
"They just took off all the equipment," the records. "None of that helped, but only made her more uncomfortable. We tell her it's okay to let go."
TMZ reports Nickerson got a stroke last year and her son and daughter-in-law have taken care of of her side.
Nickerson was best known for planing Violet Beauregarde in 1971 "a Willy Wonka & Chocolate Factory." Nickerson also appeared on "The Electric Company", "Dark Shadows" and "The Brady Bunch." She left acting in 1978 to become a nurse.
