DC United vs Real Salt Lake – Football match report – March 16, 2019

Wayne Rooney's first three goals in the season led DC United to a dominant 5-0 victory over visiting Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

It was Rooney's first hat-trick in Major League Soccer and his fifth multi-meter game since joining DC United in July last year. All 15 of Rooney's goals in a DC jersey have come into play.

Lucas Rodriguez and Ulises Segura also scored for DC United, which offsets Real Salt Lake by a 22-4 margin.

In addition to the attack, DC United remained the only MLS team that has not yet allowed a goal this season. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid needed to make only two savers to record his third consecutive shutdown.

Going back to last season, DC United now has a 372-minute shutout streak in regular-season games. D.C. United is also unbeaten in his last 1

3 regular season games.

RSL may have been lucky enough to allow only five goals in what was an all-round nightmare for the visitors. Salt Lake was reduced to a nine man since Jefferson Savarino and Marcelo Silva were both triggered on red cards.

Savarino was shown a straight red in the first half stop time after his accidental kick kicked to Luciano Acosta. Silva received his second reservation of the game in the 67th minute.

Rooney's first goal came on a penalty kick in the 34th minute. A video review revealed that a foul by Silva foul on Paul Arriola took place right inside the box, which led DC's free shot online.

In the 41st minute, defender Leonardo Jara came up to join the game and forced a takeaway. Jara then rolled a well-placed pass across to an open Rooney who had time to place a chip shot past Nick Rimando.

More excellent past, the third put D.C. Goal. Acosta found an open Junior Moreno on the nearest side of the RSL box, and Moreno crossed front to a sliding Rooney for the score.
