Jake Gyllenhaal overshadowed David Fincher in a 2007 interview
In an interview in 2007 with New York Times after Zodiac sign wrapped, Gyllenhaal said Kampklub director was not easy to work with. He said he “paints with people” and that “it’s hard to be a color.”
“I wish I could have had the maturity to be like, ‘I know what he wants. He wants the best out of me, ‘”the Brokeback Mountain alum delt. He then noticed how frustrating it was to take the countless number of takes that Fincher was famous for claiming.
“What’s so wonderful about movies is that you get a shot,” Gyllenhaal explained. “They even call it a shot. The stakes are high. You get your chance to prove what you can do. You get one tag, 5 takes, 10 takes. Some places take 90 seats. But there is a stopping point. There’s a point where you go, ‘That’s what we need to work on.’ But we wanted to resume things. So there came a point where I wanted to say, well, what do I do? Where is the risk? ”
