Joe Biden, the current frontrunner during the Democratic Presidential nomination, again came under criticism from another candidate from his party over the subject race.
Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey questioned Biden's language that was used when he spoke Friday at a Rainbow PUSH lunch meeting on ways he would help lift African-American communities.
While discussing the need for judicial reform, Biden said that people should continue to work to recognize blacks as equal, so that African-American mothers, as mother of Trayvon Martin, who was killed in Florida in 201
"We have to admit that the baby wearing a hoodie may well be the next poet laureat and not a gangster," Biden said.
The use of the word "gangbanger" criticized social media, including from Booker, who suggested that Biden lacks a qualification for the democratic candidate to talk about race constructively.
"This is not about a hoodie," Booker says. "It's about a culture that sees a problem with a child who has a hoodie in the first place. Our candidate must have the language to talk about race in a much more constructive way."
The Biden campaign released a statement Saturday.
"Vice President Biden, whom many leaders over the years had direct attention to the day-to-day experiences of many African-American men around the country and perceived so-called" threats "from people like Trayvon Martin who The race was profiled and considered "criminals" while wearing a hoodie, "said Jamal Brown, national campaign secretary of the campaign.
