Copa America 2021 final: Brazil vs. Argentina live stream, TV channel, how to watch online, team news

The Copa America in 2021 reaches its conclusion on Saturday night as Brazil and Neymar host Argentina and Lionel Messi. Brazil creaked through the knockout phase with back-to-back 1-0 wins over Chile and Peru, while Argentina followed up their 3-0 win over Ecuador in the quarters by just getting past Colombia in penalty kicks in the semifinals. These are the two best teams on the continent with a lot of time pressure on both superstars. Messi is going after his first Copa America title, and so is Neymar. If you remember, Neymar was injured for the tournament when Brazil won the final edition back in 2019.

Here are the starting line-ups:

Argentina: Emiliano Martínez; Gonzalo Montiel, Cristian Romero, Nicolas Otamendi, Marcos Acuña; Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes, Gio Lo Celso; Angel Di María, Lautaro Martínez, Lionel Messi.

Brazi: Ederson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Renan Lodi; Housemiro; Peace; Everton, Lucas Paquetá, Neymar; Richardson.

Stories

Brazil: By far the best team in South America, they have certainly not played like that in the knockout phase. They have been wasted. This is a team that expects to score more goals in a game but just has not been able to. Another night off and it could be a disaster. If they can clean up attacks and finish the chances they definitely get, they will repeat themselves as champions. Keep an eye on the set pieces, because if they are too aggressive, we could see Messi potentially score from his third dead spot in the tournament. Expect them to be physical, lower the side when Argentina have the ball, and that they are well placed to win.

Argentina: The big question really is not whether Messi can go out and guide Argentina to the title, it’s about this defense. They have given up some really good chances for Ecuador and Colombia and were lucky at times. With Cristian Romero, this defense is so much stronger, but the Atalanta man may not win his race for fitness after missing the entire knockout phase so far. That would mean we are likely to see German Pezzella and Nicolas Otamendi. They can do the job, even if they have to be the best, turn the clocks back a little and avoid even the slightest mistake. It’s a high task, but this team is as confident as it has been for years. Do not be shocked to see Lisandro Martinez slip into the defensive midfielder and fall deep to almost act as a third center-back.

Forecast

Another strike from Marquinho’s corner kick sends the host nation to the title. Pick: Brazil 2, Argentina 1
