CLEMSON, SC – Clemson cornerback Derion Kendrick is no longer with the team, a Clemson official confirmed Sunday. Kendrick played in nine games in 2020 was named the first team All-ACC and was also a first team All-ACC selection of the AP and PFF. He was credited with 20 tackles (one for loss), six pass breakups, one sack, one interception and a fumble recovery (as he returned 66 yards for a touchdown) in 382 snaps over nine games. Kendrick has played cornerback and wide receiver in the Tigers. During his Clemson career, he played a total of 1,354 combined snaps from scrimmage on cornerback and wide receiver in 39 career games (23 starts). During this time he was credited with 71 tackles (4.0 for losses), 12 pass breakups, three interceptions (including a returned 38 yards for a touchdown), a sack and a fumble recovery (returned 66 yards for a touchdown) . He also recorded 15 career receptions in 210 yards and has returned 15 career kickoffs averaging 23.3 yards from 2018-19. Kendrick was expected to be a late first-round NFL draft pick in 2021, but his mother told 247 Sports that his desire to earn his degree was among his primary reasons for planning to return to Clemson.
